If you are or know someone drawing SS benefits make sure you pass the word that there is a scam that has been going on.
The scammers it seems already have the SS number of the individual. With that number they can gain the confidence of the person they are talking to on the phone easily. They call that person and inform them that their SS number is being deactivated. They will have 30 days (blah blah blah) to get a new one issued or their benefits will stop.
To get the new one I think they are asking for 249 bucks give or take.
This is one of the worst scams lately.
    Pass it along.

That's good inf. to know. I'll pass that on to my Aunt who is here now.

I would say any time anyone has a question about S.S. , their credit cards, bank accounts, ins. etc. Call or drive to your local office.
Number and address is in your local phone book or on your monthly bill.
Only time I do any business on phone , I call them myself.

Thanks Mark, thats one I will surely be watching for. I should be able to have a lot of fun with the JERK or JERKETTE trying to convince me that anumber that is assigned for life is being deactivated.

Mark, I appreciate the information about this scam. I immediately called my mom and let her know what is going on. She is rather gullible and does not have caller ID, so she answers the phone every time it rings. She was very thankful when I shared this info with her. I have a few others that I will pass it along to also. Thanks! :smile2:

I'm on SS but with all the crap phone calls you get these days I don't beleave anything I hear over the phone and I don't buy or do serveys on the phone I just hang up.SS is not going to just drop a number and if they did they wouldn't call they would send a letter telling you what they were doing and why.
