    Boc,

My soap bait is better than any zote or ivory. Almost with all soap baits the bite is slow... and not suitable for rod and reel... because the animal fat is let out slowly. over a period of hours... IT stays on the hook better than most catfish baits... (liver, stinkbait, dipbait)

    You will need the following...

    1. Ivory soap--------- is preferred... but the bite will come almost as fast as liver.. so any soap will do...

    2. 1/2 cup of sugar
    3. 1 chicken liver tub .88 cents at wal-mart
    4. garlic salt 4 tbs
    5. a small container gladware or wax paper
    6. blender
    7. 1/2 of boiling water

First get the soap... and cut it into small chucks... then blend it, till it is real fine.. leave it in the blender...

add the 1/2 cup of boiling water( needs to be at least real hot) into a blender

add the 1/2 cup of sugar into the blender and blend for 30 seconds

drain out all the chicken liver blood and add to the blender...

add 1/2 cup of chicken livers and add to the blender... and blend for 1 min

then pour into the glad container to set up sprinkle the garlic salt over the top... should set up in 30 mins...

The difference is that blood is release into the water in a matter of seconds... and the blended chicken liver is combined into the soap to keep the scent in the water... the liver stays on the hook 100 times better... I hope some of you try this method... keep in a plastic ziploc bag and keep in the fridge.. enjoy

I think that my wife would kill me if I used her blender for such means, but if I can find a cheap one at a yard sale or thrift store I may have to try this one.

Give us a report on how it works for you, and how well it stays on the hook. If it will stay on the hook, sounds like it should get some attention from the kittys. I would have to get another blender for this also, I messed up the wifes food processor once grinding up beaver castors for trapping lure. Her equipment is now off limits to me. Hey, beaver castor, now there's a scent with a twang. A little soap, and a blender................., naw, I like living with my wife too much. Good fishin', Jack.

    Harold,
Did the soap bait with the blender recipe work out for you? I was wondering if the soap set back up so it could be put on a trotline with a 7/0 hook?
    Thanks,
    Shelby
