Hey can anyone tell me what kind of snake this is? A friend of mine walked up on it while we were fishing at a local lake. It has a fish in its throat.

diamond back water snake. It's harmless, but has a nasty disposition.

Mean little monsters, I had one bite onto a chub that I had just caught one time! Found them in my minnow traps, what a way to ruin a morning!

Not after you plug him in the head with a .22 cal pellet. I've had them come out of the water at me a few times in one spot on the river. Got tired of that the last one only done it one time.

Thanks Yall! Yea, it let us walk right up to it before it decided to swim away. Didnt seem like it was in a good mood to share it's meal! lol

Just a harmless old water snake. They can get mean when cornered though.
