I caught alot of crappies at smithville last couple of weekends. While I was doing that I snagged 10-15 6"-8" shad. I think next weekend I may try for some cats up there.

Did you make it out this past weekend? If I get the water pump replaced on the truck today I want to try and get out tomorrow. If you don't mind me asking were you fishing around the docks? The walleye should be about ready to move up to the dam. I personally haven't had any luck catching them then, usually wait till after the spawn and catch them on the flats. Thanks for the report.

Dam outflow is down to 500 cfs-I've got about 6 hours to work into the conversation with the wife about heading up there friday:embarassed:

I went Tues, lake was real muddy and they were releasing all kinds of water. Tried crappie fishing for a short while, no fish. Ran up towards the free ramp looking for some shad to catfish with, everything but shad in the net. Lake temp was 43 on the main lake and 45 up the river. Heading to Lake of the Ozarks next weekend, at least that is the plan for now.

dose anyone know where on the lake to find blues & flatheads on the lake channels are easy just asking

fished the lake yesterday no luck, but i seen a guy with a flat head and weighed it for him. It was 41lbs, he said he caught it on worms, I was shocked, i have never caught a flathead this time of year at smithville.

Has anyone done any good. We had some good southern wind the last couple of days to push those shad to the shallows. The cats should be hitting them here soon.

How is it getting shad at the North end right now.

I was out there yestrday (apr. 16) with no luck. the wind was brutal. maybe tomorrow will be better.
