My best friend passed last week.He had cancer and didnt find out about it untill 6 weeks ago.He didnt have much time to even think about how sick he was,so that was good I guess, amd he knew that better things were comming for him.
Anyway here comes my delima. He left me his boat.I plan on fixin it up doing some work that he wanted done, but never got around to it.
He had his teeth pulled in July and when he got his new teeth and walked into the bar with them, someone said "Look its smilin Bob" from the Viagra.FRom the T.V. commercial.:smile2: and it stuck that was his nicname for the last two mounths of his life.Okay will I be out of line to name his boat :Smilin Bob? His family will be useing this boat, So is the name too tacky? I really dont want to offend his kin. I know he would think it was a hoot but not sure about his kin.Your thoughts pls. thankx smokey

If the boat is now yours I see no problem. I think its a good tribute. Go for it. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Sorry about the loss of your friend. Sounds to me that if he left you his boat, then he must have thought of you as a great buddy.

I would also think (just my humble opinion) that you knew his sense of humor well. I don't think that it much matters what anybody else thinks you should do in this matter. If you think that Bob would get a chuckle out of it, then to honor him that is exactly what I would do.

If you plan to have as much fun as he had in that boat, then no it wouldnt be a bad thing. He'll be smiling over you everytime you yank one out of the water. We're sorry for your loss.

Joe, what ya got to lose. You knew your buddy. Do it. After the family sees it and things are cool, put your name there someplace too. Name it the "Smokin' Joe and Smilin' Bob. We get up early.

Keeping his family in mind is thoughtful, good job. I couldn't think of a better name than that and I'm sure he would have agreed. On the other hand I would have to talk to his dad ( or who ever ). You seem to be a respectful person so I'm sure you know what's best. Yea it is your boat and you have every right to do as you please but if you didn't care, that boat would be called smiling Bob already. I'm sure they have a good sence of humor and they would love it. I'm willing to bet that the first time they see that painted up boat there will be a few tears ; )

Sorry for the loss of your buddy and I think its great that he left you the boat.

    Welcome to the -Boc-

P.S. Now all you need is horn that does the whistling part, lol

I say go for it. It would be a great tribute to your good friend. That way, he's always with you while you fish "smilin".

My condolences to you and his family. As for the boat only those that knew him would be able to answer that question. I believe you are doing what you are doing out of respect . Cant ask for more.

If that was his nickname and his family knew this I see no problem naming the boat Smiling Bob. That way he is always a special member of the crew no matter who uses the boat.
Really sorry to hear of the loss of your partner.Your doing a great thing trying to keep his memory alive.GOD BLESS YOU!!
