Just moved here from Virginia, and wondered where to get Herring. In Va you just net them as they swim up and down the river, but here in the Kansas/Missouri area nobody can tell me where to buy any. Any ideas?

I don't think we have much around here for skipjack. Gizzard and threadfin shad, goldeye and bluegill are pretty much the baitfish used here.

Army, Welcome to Kansas! You will be hard pressed to find any herring around here. You will be better off finding some shad, chubs, small carp, or black perch. You can also find what they call "saltys", they are a hybrid gold fish carp, and work pretty well around these parts.

I was born and raised here, but lived in Virginia right out of college for a few years. Was an engineer for the construction company that built the RDF (Remote Delivery Facitliy) at the Pentagon. Moved back to Kansas just before 9/11 (thank God).
