have anyone been getting any skips lately?
I have been getting quite and few and have seen other people get alot.
There is a guy that fishes for them at the same place where I do and he prolly catches a hundred or so a week.
Do you catch them from the bank or in a boat?
I catch them from the bank.
There is a lock system that lets water underneath the levee where I fish. The skips can be hit and miss, some days you can catch one every cast and other days not a one. But all this week they have been there. I have been able to catch 2-4 in about 15 minutes which enough for me to fish there for the evening.
thanks bc what do you use to catch em crappie jigs?
I use 3 1/16th jigs with small white curley tail grubs.
Baja, where is that spot at? I want to stock up now that my shad spot has run dry. I am thinking of getting out again on Sun night, and want to try a new hole some place.
Chris I catch em up there at the Melvin Price dam...I just haven't given it a try yet this year as the cats seem to be biting pretty good on the shad right now. I catch em right there at the dam from the bank...they're fun to catch too!!!
My skipjack spot is in New Madrid which would be about almost 3 hours for you to drive.
Yuck, too far for me to drag my boat. That would be one expensive bait run.
I might just learn how to actually throw my throw net, and stick with the shad. I will be doing that today.
We caught some skipjack below Alton on jigs.:006:
When did you catch them there?
Last Tuesday. Will be back this wednesday for more.
thanks for the info guys im headed out that way weds. i'll stop by and try to get some
Throwing a net's not that difficult, especially if I can do it. What sucks is when you find a log you didn't know was there and destroy the net like I did earlier
lol thats funny but so true
i have mastered throwing my net but I still run through about 3 or 4 a year do to logs or rocks
i drove to alabma to get skippy before i even new they were around here. i know call me a dummy. now i cant find them here
