Any good places or ways to get skipjack in the southern southern illinois area that you guys have come across? I've been trying in the Ohio River but I'm not having much luck. Any tips or techniques I should try?

You need to use small white jigs in rapids below dams.. They aren't hitting anything around alton right now... it's too hot... I have caught some in cast net next to feeder creeks on the river but thats about it this time of year...

around here you watch the water for them to splash when feeding on small shad and other minnows look along the banks for creeks or sewage pipes and or ditches with fresh water running in small bait fish and fry will gather in those places and skippies will feed on them , use a sabiki rig of multi red green colors or small jigs in brite colors , hope this helps good luck
