Skipjack

    Here are a couple of interesting articles I came across while doing some research on skipjack. Didn't have any idea of their distribution that covers most of the eastern states. One article said that they are even in the Great Lakes. What most of the articles said was that the population has declined due to the building of dams, not overfishing, especially on the Mississippi River. They were once abundant in Minnesota, because of the Mississippi River. Once the dams were put up, they are almost gone now. Guess that they are looking at putting in fish ladders to help the migratory species such as the skipjack out. Enjoy.

    Those were some good articles. I really believe that the carp invasion has also hurt the skipjack as well as the shad.
