skipjack - when is the best time to get skipjack?

    Skipjacks are caught year round in Kentucky and Tennessee waters as well as other states too. If you are looking to score big numbers of them....then a trip to the Steamplant or Dam is necessary. If you are looking to only catch a few to go fishing with...you can usually catch a few on the shores of Lake Barkley. Hope this helps.     Your best bet will probably be C City for several.Somebody in your area may know somewhere closer.

    Aberdeen power plant ? Can you catch skipjack there this time of year. Can you fish for them from the bank.

    Yes!! you should be able to. The Aberdeen power plant is a warm water discharge so you should be able to. Keep us posted if you have any luck. Been thinking of making a trip up there myself.

    also work well, 2 or 3 tied to your line,white,orange and pink work best for me.People also use rostertails with blades.

    I think they can be caught with about any lure that is for pan fish or trout.

    hey-operator and I were on the cumberland the first week of January and they were running then 2 at atime , we caught 20 or so in about 10 minutes. that was just below a steam plant

    we were using 2 white jigs and a silver spoon at the bottom of the rig worked great the lures were about 1 foot apart. I think between now and March they were saying is the best time. he said bring coolers to fill and vacum freeze for later use
