I know from reading different posts how to catch 'em, but to be honest, I do not know what a skip jack looks like. For those that use them, help! How do you catch them and what do they look like.

I honestly think they are the easiest fish to catch. A couple of jigs, throw your line out real it up. Oh and did I say its alot of fun when you get two or three on your ultralight pole :smile2:

Linda, if there is a hot water discharge at the power plant in your area, that might be a great place to catch Skippies. You'll need a light Bass rod and reel, and like Griz said, a Sabiki rig or small jigs tied in line about 12" apart. They bite better at dawn and dusk, but sometimes you can catch them all day long. I like to use a heavy Sabiki rig with 1/4 oz jig head with a 2" white curly tail grub on the end for Hybrids and big Skippies. Oh yea, take a bag of ice to put them on because they are very hard to keep alive. Hope this helps a little. Dave

Linda if you do not have the time for catching Skips like myself you can purchase whole frozen ones at Catfish Jeffs in Okolona off Blue Lick road if you are in the Louisville area.
