This boats look really cool, and ride wonderful in the bays in Tampa, Flordia.

I was wandering has anyone fished one of a really bid river lake the Ms., Mo, James, Ohio, ETC.

How do the fiberglass handle on the rivers compared to the aluminum one's?

    Hi Kevin,
I did not see any pics of the boat you were referring to, but I have NO trouble with my J-16 Carolina Skiff on the Big Pee Dee. I actually prefer the fiberglass as they are quieter, and much cooler on a hot sunny day. What skiff were you talking about?

I have a 13' Gheenoe (fiberglass) that I use on the KY River and absolutely love it. I've got a 15 hp Yami on it and it is a blast tp drive, and easy on gas. It is very stable.

    Seconded.

"Skiff" takes in a lot of territory...some make excellent catboats, others, not so much.

Kevin, skiff is a broad term for a variety of small boats...it is not one single design. Here's one definition I found online:

    skiff (skif)
    noun
any of various small, light, open boats propelled by oars, motor, or sail

There are a lot of people building small aluminum boats.
