Open Water I Use Gamakatsu Circle hooks sized to the bait.

River or thick cover where you cant let the fish run, I use Mustad stainless steel 8/0-10/0 short shanked off set J-hooks for jackhammer sets.

All depends on the bait bro. If I am using a big live carp, I will have a 12/0 big river hook..
~ The smallest hook will be a 6/0 octopus for a small gill..

    * My favorite hook lately is a 12/0 King khale hook and a big fat blue gill.

8/0 Gama Octopus Circle hook with offset point with mono-filament line.

    or

6/0 Eagle Claw Kahle bronze with up eye for PowerPro line.

Both of these are for flathead fishing.

    Dude,
The big sickle hooks are no different than the big river hooks, except the big river hooks have a tilted eye... The smaller sickle hooks however are awesome... I use the 7/0 for channel cats and they work great!

I use 4/0 and 2/0 circle hooks from owner. seem to work well for me. The 2/0 hooks I have are mutu light circle and the package says they set themselves. must be true being as I never have to set the hooks.

I appreciate it...did you figure out when/where you're going out next week? Maybe I'll tag along if I don't have to go swimming in the process, since I don't have chest-high waders yet :smile2:

Havent been wading yet, i usually wait until August because they dont shoot as much water out of the stew dam at saguaro, I tried it last year with waders and I slipped, waders filled up with water and I had problems as you can imagine. Next trip.........Secret honey holes no where near the SR. gotta get my first 40++ of the year, done a couple 25ers, some 20ers, and bunch 10-15ers. Nothing huge yet though

I use a 8/0 J style hook but am gonna check out the big river hooks. I know a lot of guys like circles but I like to set the hook myself. Tight lines.

When I'm tightlining or slip bobber I use circle hooks. When I use reels with bait clickers engaged I like to use j-hooks or kahles, size is depending on the bait I use.
