simple fix for weak clickers on abus

    this little tip will restore your old clicker to loud and new order. after years of wear and use and abuse they can get weak. simply remove the side plate opposite of the crank handle. three screws.

    there is a white plastic gear on the spool axle. this is seen in the second pic. the fins toward the inside is what the spring steel clicker rides on to click.

    the third pic you can see the steel flat peice copper color that rides this gear.

    bend it gently toward the center of reel just slightly to snug it back into position. dont move it much. 1/4" is more than enough to get it tight.

    first pic shows bending spring.

    now when you go it put it back on slide the clicker to the off position. you should be able to see this view so the screw port is clear. on it will obstruct and or after assembly will have the spring on the wrong side of screw pole. make sure its in off pos. the screw pole is what makes the spring move to the gear. replace cover. your clicker should be loud as a new one.:wink:

    thanks fellas. john i am gonna submit it for the library. actually thats why i did it. i remember lots of Q's on weak clickers in the past. and checked in there first. didnt see anyone had don this so i went ahead and made it up.
