Is there any major differences in detection if you use it in sea or freshwater?
Do you have to alter settings if you shift between the two?
What happens to the picture in strong current or a lot of sediment in the water?

The unit has a setting for both Fresh waters and salt. But its on the standard unit. The side imaging works does not matter if current or not.
Here is a shot showing a discharge from a paper mill. about 1 mile below Pickwick dam with plenty of current.

Here is one in taken in a creek that was so muddy it looked like coco.

I would say of the sediment was so thick it would block a standard unit then it would block this one also. But then it would also be mud not water.
