Any of you guys use sibiki rigs in the muskingum or scioto for gills or white bass or anything?
Never used a sabiki rig in the Muskingum. I usually throw small spinners and tubes etc. on the Muskingum.. I only know of a couple places that I have ever caught gills from the Muskingum also, and they have been just a few here and there. I get most of my baits wading small creeks and streams mostly, and from ponds and lakes. Not saying it wouldn't work. If you find a pattern let me know. rollo
I've found gills hangin around small shallow logjams .
A couple places I have found them are around rock along the banks in little slack water areas. The ones I have caught have been right on the banks. I have caught some dandy crappie in the Muskingum though, if you are interested in catching them I can tell you some good spots, you will catch some smaller ones also.. rollo
You ever use crappie for bait?
I get most of my gills out of the canal here in Zanesville.
How do you fish for them?Is there structure in the canals that you fish around?
Usually just walk the bank for them with my ultra light. Hook no weight and a small piece of worm. As far as structure, I look for wood cover or just fish around the rocks in the water.
Joe ive heard of alot of guys catching big flats on crappie!
I've caught a few flatheads with crappies the size of your hand.
