Hi guys, need some input. I recently bought a alaskan 15' vee with a 20" transom. I have a 6hp short shaft motor, I want to use. I saw a Geerlick aux. motor mount for sale on the net. Stationary mount, stainless steel, rated for 15hp. Should be plenty strong. I will mount the "jack plate" 5 inches lower on the transom, in the center. Bought the motor new last year, it's all I need/ want. Any one have any experience or opinions? thanks in advance. Bill :confused2:

I think reaching the controls and tiller will be awkward, at best. The tiller will have to be somewhere above the normal "full down" operating position.

I would look into getting an extension kit for the six to make it a long shaft.
