my first post here.Lots of good info. Have not been catfishing for some time.
My old cat reel is a shimano triton freshwater 450 . Is this just an early version of the 4500? What differences between them?

Nobody has had one of these? It's a pre 4500 bait runnner.Got mine in '87. I talked to shimano looking for a new spool and they said no and the 4500a spool wil not not fit. Caught a lot a fish with it . Guess it's time for a new reel.

I think you are correct that it is a earlier version of the 4500...I have a 4500 and it is a fine reel.

You may find one if you Google it up, maybe even on Ebay.
