Sheeps Head

    I got some sheeps head last week from Lake Erie and woundered if anyone has ever used it as cut bait before? They are pretty smelly, oily and nasty!

    man i've never heard of using them for bait, but then again i didnt know yall got em way up there. i do know that (if ours are just like yall's) they can be a real pain to clean. scaling them is REAL tough so i started fillet'ing them. the only way i can do that is to first cut my outline with a box cutter. they work pretty good in a crab trap though. and they arent bad to eat if you get them in the grease fresh!

    Thanks JD,

    There still whole in the freezer so they may get to be burried under toematoe plants for fertalizer instead of cut bait here real soon!!!

    Baitchunker...I think he meant freshwater drum,not the "convict" sheepshead.(saltwater)...but I've been wrong before and will again.

    I've seen other posts about drum as cutbait....but never had any luck with it myself...never gave it to much of a chance.
