Here is the situation i am fishing the snake river near where it joins the cloumbia river. The current in the river has been pretty strong so i have been fishing a shallower backwater area, problem is all i have been hooking is some small bullhead. Would i have better luck fishing the deeper water in the river? There is a bridge piling in about 15-20ft of water that acts as a current break, would the cats be down that deep this time of year?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

yes fish that piling for sure. And yeah id fish a little deeper especally if there is structure around. You may need to use a slip float and adjust it until you find the depth the cats are hanging out at.
