howdy grant , in the winter months shad is hard to find , sometimes they die off when it gets to cold . if i was hunting shad in a river this time of the year i would look for a warm water discharge for my bait , GOOD LUCK

they're flitting on the surface here in my local river around daybreak but after a few casts with my net i found that i had to let it sink to bottom to really do any good catching them. i guess when the net hits the water they dive for deep water in a hurry. most of the ones that i caught were 3 to 4 inchers.
