I usually fish with fresh caught shad that I put into my bait tank while out on the great Ohio river, but just today I noticed a public lake loaded with 3-6" goldfish and I was wondering if I should net a bunch to fish with? Or since I have pretty good access to live shad should I just keep on using them. I assume netting is the only way to catch goldfish?

    thanks for the info

i've only bought goldfish but the black one's are killer bait. They live good on a hook too. If ya can see em, you should be able to net a few. good luck

I have fished with both, and caught fish on both...But I consider the shad much better.

i've done good with both baits, but shad would get my vote. natural forage already in the river vs. transplanted foreign bait? there's no comparison in my opinion.
