Here in Okla shad guts work good for eating size channels. They are just hard to get unless big shad are running.

The best channel cat fishing trip I ever had was using gizzards. Three of use sit in a boat one night and literally caught hundreds of 2 to 5 pounders.

I always take the first piece of cut bait behind the head with the gizzard in it. I make sure I run my hook through the gizzard. Don't tell anyone that is why I get more bites on my boat :smile2:.

Another thing I like about them, when the wife is fishing with me she wont' touch them because they stink

Fish guts in general work well, especially in the early spring. Shad gizzards
are very effective but the smaller cats seem to get to them first. Never
know when the quick or lucky big cat will jump on first. Guts are a go-to
when cut shad isn't cutting it. But don't forget your turkey livers just in
case. Lay out a smorgesboard and see what is bringin' em in.
