Setting trot lines

    IS IT TOO EARLY IN THE SEASON TO BE SETTING TROT LINES? I HAVEN'T HAD MUCH LUCK DURING THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER EITHER. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    I don't think it is to early to fish trot lines if you want to fish them. My family fishes them all the time pretty much.

    I always do pretty good when I set out my trot lines. It doesn't seem to matter what time it is. Look for some good structure and try different depths, that seems to be the key.. Try different types of baits and see what they are biting on..

    we are going to set troutlines this weekend hopefully we will do good usally they work all times of year if put in the right place. We are going on the mississippi river sought of St. louis but it might sound crazy but I think the cat are spawning here already the water temp is close to 60 already .let you know how we do .
