    -Launched 7:00 am in Hopewell.
    -Got bait
-Bounced around a couple of holes until I set up on a sunken barge in 40 ft of water.
-5 minutes - had a 42-6 in the boat. oorah!!
-Made attempt to photograph - lacking a tripod, perched camera on boat bag on chair on rear bench seat of boat (can you see where this is going??)
-Activated self timer & made a move for the fish
    -Heard a bang
-Turned around to see boat bag taking off with the outgoing tide  (That would be the bag containing my wallet, cell phone, car keys, vhf radio...etc, etc...)
-Pulled anchor fast!! Two lines still in the water - no time.
-Caught up with bag - Still dry thanks to hard plastic bottom.
-Untangled fishing line rats nest & got rods put away.
-Searched for camera - GONE!! :cursing: IDIOT IDIOT IDIOT
-Jumped around, screamed a little (lotsa 4 letter words)
    -Jumped around some more
    -Reset anchor above barge
    -Reset fishing lines
-Called wife - Shouldn'ta done that...
    -Got snagged in the barge
-While trying to break terminal tackle free - anchor broke free.
-Tried to pull anchor - Stuck in barge :cursing:
-Made repeated attempts to get anchor free - Still stuck :cursing:
    -It's hopeless - Anchor's GONE :cursing:
-It's noon - I've had enough (can't anchor again anyway) Headed for the ramp.

Would you consider this day a success or a disaster???

    /Scott

It has just come to my attention that I also somehow lost an expensive pair of sunglasses during the chaos.

Man that was one expensive fish today!!!

I know what you mean about an expensive fishing trip. I hit a stump at 35 mph last year and did $3300 of damage to the motor but the upside was that we caught a 32, 21 and 19 that night. Worth it? You betcha.
Sorry for the loss but you did catch a fish.
A bad day of fishing is still better than not being able to fish.

    Have a Merry Christmas.

I was kind of bummed to quit early. Who knows how it could have gone for the rest of the afternoon. I had just set up on the spot that I was fishing so there had to have been a couple more active fish available. Oh well, another day.

Now I need to find an anchor that I can get loose when it gets hung up like that again.

    Hey Scott,

I would be excited to have at least caught a fish. Sure you lost things and it didn't work out like you wished, but you were at least fishing.

I am sure that a ton of us wish we were able to go out fishing right now. I have been on a working spree of about 13 days straight. I would love to go fishing.

I remember last year I went to cast my line out and the spool snagged and ripped the pole out of my hands. I lost a $200 rod and reel that my wife bought me for Father's Day a couple weeks earlier. Things happen, but at least we still have a chance to get out on the water and enjoy what we love so much--- to catfish!! :D
