There has always been good fishing in the Satilla for bullheads. This will probably change now that flatheads have been introduced into the river. If you are looking for flatheads, launch at the 252 bridge and head up or down. Last time we went up, most fish taken were under 10 pounds but one in the 20's. I heard of one that went 42 pounds taken downstream from the bridge soon after that. This river is about to explode soon and the flathead fishing should be tremendous. I only fish this river during the day because I am not comfortable leaving my truck/trailer parked there overnight.
You can call two persons that know more about the river than I do. Call the Okefenokee Sportsman in Folkston. I believe the man's name is Billy. Also, call Don Harrison with the DNR in Waycross. The number is 912-285-6094. Good luck.
