Since I've not posted on the forum in a long time figured that I would provide an update from over the weekend. I stopped posting as almost everyone stopped posting updates. Fished lower lake rained most of the day Friday and was windy. Big fish close to 60 lbs several in the 20's and 30's. Saturday was lots of wind early and calmer in the evening. Caught around 25-30 both days. Best fishing was after dark. Drift fished and anchored. Most all were cuahgt anchored. Lots of people fishing the canal as well. Caught almost all fish on Herring. Tried several different baits caught one on white perch. Water temp was 62 and slighty muddy. Caught most all fish around 18 and 25 feet of water. Hope more people will start posting updates again.
Thanks for the report. I am actually heading down tomorrow for a week, and will post reports. Any certain areas, or tips you are willing to share. It would be nice to have a starting point. Thank you!
Fished Santee from the 16 of March through the 22. Between three of us we caught 115 Blues, Channels, and Bullheads. 37lbs was the largest. Fish seemed to be scattered everywhere. Our largest came on the upper lake anchored in 40ft. Numbers came from the lower lake drifting but were really small. Also caught quite a few in the canal. Blueback and River Herring were what we used for bait.
