Me and the wife just got in off the river and got some very sad news. It seems Georgia’ s Altamaha river clamed second life today. A 7-year-old boy drowns while camping with his family on a sand bar. This is the second life so far this year on this river. The boy was wading in the shallows when the current swept him off his feet and he went under. It was almost 15 minutes before his family found him face down in the water almost 60 yards from there camp site. Please keep his family in your prayers and thoughts.

This is really sad. I am sorry to hear this, especially a 7yr old child. My thoughts and prayers go out to that family. This is indeed tragic.

Man! You just gotta keep your eyes on your kids when they're around water - only takes a second. Condolences to the family, this has got to be so tough on them.

This rive has a reparation for taking at least 2 lives a year. Some even say the river is cursed but I don’t know for sure and am not going to say. All I know is that the rive dose according to history take a average of 2 lives a year and with it being a early start the old timers say that it will take 2 or 3 more before it is done.

I know from growing up around the area that river is notorious for claiming lives. The current is extreme! It is so sad to hear of the loss for that family.
