I'm gonna buy a lever action Ruger 44 mag carbine today when I leave work. I've been wanting one for a while to hunt around the house with. I finally talked a freind out of his. I have been looking for a Ruger 44 mag semi automatic but I can't find anybody willing to sell one resonably, so I'm jumping on the lever action. I think this will be a good round for where I'm using it. I like slow and heavy bullets up close ( like my muzzle loader, or a 12 ga slug ) Shooting deer at home will be 70 yard shots, max. Mostly 40 yards and under shots. I've never shot a 44 carbine but I've shot 44 pistols. I don't expect much recoil at all, for fast second shots. What can some of you guys tell me about bullet drop on a 44? A good freind of mine told me to not buy any bullets because he has a ton of 'hot' hand loaded hunting rounds for 44. But I know I'll still buy some factory loads to play around with. The gun only has iron sights right now, and I might keep it that way. I just don't know till I shoot it some. Shooting iron sights out to say 75 yards I shouldn't need to worry about any bullet drop should I?
