I am a foreman in a big steel shop. Our welding machines use spools of wire. Many of the machines use 33# spools. Some wire manufacturers use platisic spools while others use 1/8 dia. wire for spools. These spools are great for storeing all kinds of rope. I use them for trot line storage. I have used them for anchor ropes. Tow ropes and docking ropes. Chances are good that if you take the time to visit your local welding shop you can pick up all the rope storage you will ever need. Just about any shop in production will produce 10 or 15 empty spools a day. Try it you'll like it.
