My new boat is actually a 50 year old classic Dorsett Catalina. She's been in restoration for a year and is finally ready for the water. With two 6 foot berths, she should be a very comfortable overnight fisher!

very nice Gerry! Where/how did you find a boat like that in the first place? Was the restoration very difficult? Any pics of before you started the restoration?

"Sea trials" are scheduled for Monday, May 18th. After that I've got to get the trolling motor fitted and the canvas on it.

    Here's as few.

As far work- these boats are usually basket cases when you find them so it's a lot of work. I had a guy helping me but he fell ill and I had to finsih myself. I don't mind, it's one of my hobbies and I just retired. . The big thing was beefing up the transom and raisng it's height. Apparently the older motors had shorter shafts than modern ones. We had to replace the stringers and the floor. The window pillars snapped taking out the glass so I had to rebuild those. Got new acrylic winsheilds on the lower sides, polished the old ones on lower front (very expensive to mold new ones). The upper winsheild is a flat sheet of polycarbonate, bent into the frame. Acyrilic is way too expensive for my budget! There was paint carpet, electirc. About a year of work!

A good place to look for one is in the "Glassified" section of the Fiberglassics site. Under forums. Craigslist is also a place to look under boats.
