Rod&Reel

    what is a good rod and reel for larger cats? i have a small pole i use for bream, bass, small cats, and whatever else, and interested in goin for the big boys

    Depends on how long you;ve been fishing. If your expierienced then a inexpensive seven to nine ftmed/heavy to heavy rod with a decent bait caster reel is fine. If your not then a name brand expensive rod that wont break easy and has a warrenty is the way to go. Six of one, half dozen of the other, know what i mean/ ultimatly the choice is yours. Good luck.     Ugly Stick catfish rods...$28.00 at Wal-mart.
    Abu Garcia 5000 and 6500 reels...$25-$35 used on E-Bay

    String 'em up with some 20 pound Ande line and you can catch any cat in the water for under $65.00 :wink:

    that other post of mine, messed up, it had alot of info but it didnt post, so let me give it to you strait, its your choice what you fish with but for a good rule

    PAIR AN UGLY STIK WITH AN ABU, OR A PENN

    remember this and youll always have a good combo

    Welcome Ben to the BOC, I would remend a Abu 6000 with a 6' or 7''Daiwa MH Casting rod or a Abu 5000 with a 6' MH one peice rod.
