When looking for fishing spots do you prefer inside or outside bends on rivers? Some say inside and some say outside is best.Personally dont see much of a difference either way.

Well,I target the inside bends for the river for blues and flathead.Because of the deep water that acompanies those bends. But those outside bends are normally shallow mud flats with alot of wood, and they will hold boat loads of channels.

the outside of the bend usually is where the channel runs so it contains deeper water. there are some exceptions but generally this is the rule therefore we concentrate on the outside when targeting these areas.

I guess if the right cover is there it doesnt matter as much.

Outside bends usually produce bigger cats. I have been doing well catching blue cats on an outside bend with rocks in 40'to 45'. There is some what of an eddy, wich helps with current hard to find. I think that the blues are hanging suspended, and on the bottom in deep water durring this hot summer.
