I must strive with wind and wave,
battle them both when under the sea.
I feel out the bottom,a foreign land,
In lying still,I am strong in the strife.
If I fail in that, they are stronger than I,
And wrenching me loose, soon put me to rout,
They wish to capture, what I must keep.
I can master them both if my grip holds out.
If the rocks bring succour and lend support,
    strength in the struggle.

    What am I?

    Weight in my belly,
    Trees on my back,
    Nails in my ribs,
    Feet I do Lack?

    What am I

What does man love more than life,
Fear more than death or mortal strife,
What the poor have, the rich require,
    And what contented men desire,
    What misers spend,and spendthrifts save,
And all men carry to the grave?

    Here's a tough one:

Three guys check into a hotel room, the room costs the men a total of $30.00. Each guy pays his share which is $10.00. They go up to the room and sit around for a while. A little bit later the front desk manager realizes that the men should have recieved a $5 dollar discount on thier room because its tuesday, and tuesday is discount day. So the front desk manager calls in the bell boy to take the $5.00 and bring it to the room for the men.
While the bellboy is walking up to the room he realizes that these guys won't be able to split the $5.00 equally, so he decides to pocket two of the dollars and tell them it was only a $3.00 discount. He gives each man back one dollar.

Okay, here is the riddle. Each man origanly paid $10.00, then each man got back $1.00, so each man had paid $9.00 at that point. If you add each mans $9.00 together it totals out to $27.00 plus the two dollars the bellboy kept is only $29.00. Where is the missing dollar?

    Here you go Nick

The answer is in the way the question is worded. You cannot add what one person HAS to what someone else has PAID and come up with any kind of a meaningful number, you have to subtract.
    Each man has paid $9.
    The bellhop has $2.
    Difference

    $9 x 3 = $27
    2
    $25

The hotel clerk has the other 25 dollars.
To look at it from the standpoint of the original $30. Each man has $1.
    The bellhop has $2.
    The hotel clerk has $25.
    Total

    $1 x 3 = $3
    2
    25
    $30
