well we went down to santee and caught 62 pounds of cats. the 2 biggest at 18 and a couple of flatheads at 16 and 9 pounds and a small channel on catapala worm but thats all that bit the catapala worm. we caught most of our fish on perch and cut bait brim but we had a good spot but the wind wudnt let us stay though we had gar bites the first 45 minutes we had put 34 pounds in tha boat already it was a great and long first experience for me but i wanna go and do it again wen the wind cooperates

    Daniel,

Glad you guys could make it down and fish with us. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and are looking forward to a return trip. Next time we will have the wind on our side and could put some more Santee cats in the boat.

To add to to this report a little, we fished the area north of Sixteen Island trying to hide from some of the wind left from a passing storm Friday evening, it didn't take long after we got there for the wind to find us and eventually run us back around to the West side of the island to hide once more. The wind was relentless all night and until after daylight when we moved out towards the main river channel to try and find some flatheads, we managed one more flathead and eventually decided to caall it a windy trip and head in for some much needed rest. It was great watching young gun and his sister catch there first Santee cats and glad to hear the windy conditions did not turn them off to the great Santee.

The bigger fish were caught in 3 to 10ft of water.

I fished the upper lake and the canal last night and friday night. We did fairly well friday, caught two flatheads about 20 lbs each and a couple of blues about 15 lbs, and a few more smaller ones. Last night was not productive at all for us, we caught a 5 lb channel, and about 2:00 with only a few more bites decided to call it quits.
