Republican River

    has anyone been fishin on the republican yet, i dont know where too fish any more i used to fish Broghton area but theres no water there anymore. I know gatesville area is usually good. Any other Suggestions?

    This time of year, you have to fish the holes in the Republican. That is where the fish will be stacked up. They wont move much with the water this low. Keep an eye on the USGS web site. As soon as you see the water start to rise, hit the river. The fish will start moving until it drops again. When it starts to drop they will stack up in the holes again until it starts to rise again. If you are fishing Broghton Bridge area, keep an eye on the Clay Center gauge here http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06856600

    Best thing to do when the Republican is this low is put on a set of waders and walk the river and fish the holes.
