I want to replace the spark plugs in my '04 50hp Yamaha. The manual states to tighten them to 25 ft. lbs. I don't have a torque wrench, how tight should I make them? Thanks in advance!

The plugs have a sort of a metal gasket on them that will crush.

I always put them in and crush that gasket, then maybe 1/4 turn more. You'll feel the resistance when crushing that gasket.

Specified torque on a standard type bolt and threaded hole actually stretches the threads. You don't want that kind of force from the steal plugs in a threaded aluminum hole.

Are the plugs gapped from .035 to.039? I don't have access to manuals anymore, but I think those are the numbers.

I checked them when I bought them and they were set at .035. The manual said between .035-.038.
    THX. for your quick reply!
