replacement covers for 6000, an 6500 reels

    i have several abu 6000 an 6500 reels that suffer from boat rash on the side covers, how can i paint them or replace them cliff

    Have you checked on ebay? They usually have stuff like that on there.

    I've started having things ceramic coated.
    Even some reel parts.
    Ceramic coating isnt real expensive.
    I get a square foot done for about 15 bucks but I'm sure there would be a minimum charge for small parts.

    Thats the way I look at it.
    Another thing I dont do is jump on the color bandwagon.
    I dont go for the reds, the greens, the blues, or purples.

    A silver, bronze, or gold colored reel will look better longer.

    I've tried painting before. They'll look worse then before unless you do something like ceramic or powder coating and even then the part has to be able to withstand the cure heat.
    I've priced new side covers for some reels I collect. They are the most expensive parts. Quantum side plates commonly run in the 25-30 dollar range per side on a 10 year old reel. I could buy a new reel.
