I have an ugly stik that is around 10 yrs old and all the finish has flaked off this wouldnt be a problem but the fiberglass tip is exposed to the moisture.

What is good to be used to refinish.

Scuff real good with scotch brite pad or 800 grit and use Permagloss,,Soak applicator, sponge or rag with PG AND wipe down . dry and hit with the paper again and re coat with PG ,,and repeat the 3rd time and you should have a piece of shiny glass. IMHO...:cool2:

Can this be done on the lettering of the rod too? Or is better to stay away from that area of the rod?

If you do not sand all the way through the finish you can do it over the lettering also, aslong as the lettering is not a decal that was put on after the final finish.
