Check with South Bend see what they can tell you about it. You may find out when it was made and all sorts of goodys about it. Looks like a keeper to me!

Brian i contacted southbend and there reply was: The current South Bend company purchased the name only from the Gladding
Corporation in 1980 I can suggest you contact Historical Fishing
Display in Warrenville Illinois. Their telephone number is 1-800-347-4525.
They should be able to help you. They have the history on all of the old
    South Bend products.
