What's the best type of handle for a "catfish reel" , the dual paddle style or the single "T" type handle found on most saltwater reels ? Whats the pros and cons of each ? -Thanks

I prefer the "power handle" but use both types.

I would rather have the Single Handle for all of my reels as it is more practicle. This is an opinion true, but I have found the the Larger area when reeling in is easier to use. Although it is not called a POWER HANDLE, it works on the same principle. I have reels with Double Handles and use them often, but my preference would be the SINGLE!

Power Handles on my 7000's but i do have 6500 and 6000 with the dual, I use them both often but prefer my power handle for the bigguns.

sounds like its singles for everybody. I perfer a single, their is more surface area to grab ahold of and their isnt another paddle in the way when you have to burn line to avoid a snag.

Ditto this post for the same reason. Single Power Handle.

I use the power handles except for a few of the jigging reels.

My 209's have the single power handle, I like them. But, the double handles on late model Abu's aren't bad. Those round ones on the older models were a bit cheesy.

i like the single handle, i had a daul handal, and if you fought a big fish with it ( atleast i did ) i was always whacking my nuckles on the other handle

I like the single handle because they're bigger, but still, they're not big enough. I have kind of big hands, and it's not comfortable for me to grip the handle between my thumb and pointer finger, so I put the handle in the groove between my pointer and middle fingers and crank that way.

I think the ultimate handle for me is something I could put my entire hand around....something the size of a tennis ball, lol!:cool2:

LOL. Tennis ball, I'm sure that you could find something similar that you could rig up that will work just as well.
