Theres a private pond ive been fishing and ive had some fairly large bluegill-like fish hitting my bass lures. i knew they werent bluegill so i went online and did some research. they turned out to be red ear sunfish (a close relative of the bluegill) to my knowledge, this breed of fish is not native to the waters of colorado. has anyone else caught any of these fish?

We catch a lot of them here in western Ks. Good eating and not a bad fight for their size. Small ones make good catfish bait cut up. Or real small ones hooked through the tail make a dandy big bass bait!!!
