these represent my second and third paintings ever. i did them for a local grocery store. the aztec warrior goes to the top of a 14foot wall and the figure is life sized. the religious icon is about four feet tall and is over the entrance of the store. i gave them a low price because i wasn't sure i knew what i was doing.

    Brian,

Thanks for sharing those pics. You did an excellent job. I have one question, was the grocery owned by another nationality? If so, who?

    Take care.

cheryl, thank you for your comments.

the owner is a mexican immigrant family (legal). they wound up paying me more than we had agreed and they've already got someone else interested in hiring me. the religios icon is of the virgin of guadalupe, the patron saint of mexico, that's a mexican flag on her left. the aztec warrior and calendar (the circular design behind him) are very common mexican images.

i don't really have any experience with painting so i think i'm going to take some classes instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. there's no need to figure it all out by myself.

thanks again for your positive words.

    fish on.

You did a great job. Take some classes if you want, but it looks like you're doing fine. Experience will make you a better artist. Speaking of reinventing the wheel, that's exactly what a teacher will do. They will make you you rethink what you thought you already knew, and start all over. Not necessarily a bad thing, just may not be cost effective. Who knows, but keep it up.
