I was coming up the Muskingum River Sunday morning at about 1:30 am. The water is pretty low, about like last year. I came upon a shallow stretch that has 4 downed trees that I know of that you have to go around. My spot was working, I had my goggles on (bugs), and I never saw it coming an Wham! my boat went up and then splashed down. I went to shut her down and realized that I was in shallow water so I kept the hammer down, feeling my heart go thumpety thump. I made it home just fine after that. I looked at the bottom of the boat and saw absolutely zero damage. It was a stump as evidenced by parts of it lodged in my jet intake. Actually, I have seen guys on video do it for fun, but I don't know..... maybe in daylight. One thing, I never felt unsafe, that boat HANDLES. Only caught 2 six pound channels, and both of them came off a bobber with cut sucker and shad about 1 1/2 feet down close to the bank.

I give that a 9.5 for distance. And 9.7 for height. LOL
Man glad I was not with you. I almost flipped a 14ft john boat one time when I hit a log wide open. I like staying on the water not over it.
    Be safe buddy.

Unfortunately with a jet, slowing down is the last thing for you to do. The faster you go the shallower the draft. This is a 20 foot boat. If I slow it down then it grounds. You ever tried to push 20 feet of .125 gauge aluminum loaded off a shoal?

What should I do, take a cab? Actually, because I got stuck last week 200 yards up from that very spot, I got unstuck, floated back down and took a cab to the house. Then I had fellow boaters calling cause they were worried about me.

Glad you & your boat are O.K. I've done that a few times myself, it always is a heart thumper. I tend to be very cautious these days.
