does anyone know what the closest public boat ramp on lake norman to I40 i am wanting to fish the river section but not really wanting to run half of the lake

The closest public ramp to I-40 will probably be in the Long Island area. The wildlife dept. has one.

Hwy 150 aint to far away from ya. Take exit #36 off I-77 and at top of ramp take a right onto hwy 150 about 3-4 miles landing will be on your right. Thats the closest one I know off to ya. Maybe closer ones but just trying to help ya out. Later bud.

You are in my area. Take 40 to old Mountain rd, follow south and take a right on Buffalo Shoals rd. You will cross over the river, take a left on Kale rd and follow to the Long Island boat ramp on the left. You will be 1/2 a mile from the river entrance. I fish the area alot. Be careful when you get up river, shallow and lots of rocks.
