Did you ever find you a mower around there to work on?

I used to own a small engine shop up here in Keokuk, and I used to do quite abit of machine work for the boys around Mendon who was fixing them up for pulling a sled. I have seen the lawnmower races on TV. I think they should be fully operational, and be made to prove it by mowing the infield or something.
The most popular mowers was the cub cadets, or the older John Deere's. Hydrostats were not used. The engines was the single cylinder Kohler or Briggs. Some used Tecumseh but very few. Good luck, I'll answer question if you have any. Andy
