Gonna head out tomorrrow on the mississippi... have been thinkin about fishing a "backwater" area known to locals as the canal. it is a bit off of the main channel area making it kinda far from the cats wintering holes. the depth is a constant 8-10 feet mud bottom, no current. is it worthwhile to give that a whirl either drifting or trolling tomorrow. The ice is 90% gone from the area. I do know there are shad in their as seeing many gulls/pelicans hanging around.
anyone have advice on such a thing or would you fish in little current just off the main channel area??????
