I've seen some of you talk about cured chicken livers with garlic and other stuff.

My question is how exactly do you cure them? set them in the sun or?

    Thanks,
    Bill

I laid mine out in the back yard on top of my boat on a sheet of aluminum.

I turned it every day for a week. The salt keeps it from rotting. It ends up with a consistancy between leather and frudge.

    You have me wondering...

Are there any advantages experienced with cured chicken livers over fresh (or somewhat aged) ones; that is, other than the livers stay on the hook better?

Do you actually experience any better catches?

    What I have found....

Stays on the hook better!!! You can cast it a mile.

Catches more catfish, the scent is awesome with the Garlic and attracts the fish.

This is just what I think and have found out. Let us know if it works for you.

i have 5 lbs of cured livers for tonight...ever since i started curing them i have seen an increase in the amout of fish i catch plus it won't come off the hook...only thing i do different is the amount of time i cure them...i have found out that if you cure them to the point that both sides are firm but the insides are still soft the cats seem to like them better

Yowee! What about that! I woulda thought that the soppin' wet liver dripping blood all in the water would have caused a frenzy kinda like what happens with sharks. Now you tell me that cured liver works better. Well, why not? I think I'll give it a try. Thanks, brothers! :big_smile_2:
