Question on Carolina Rig...

    Is it necessary to try to keep your cut bait or nightcrawler off the bottom when using a carolina rig? If so, how do you keep your bait suspended if your sinker and barrel swivel is laying on the bottom.

    Here's the rig:

    Main line/egg sinker/barrel swivel/leader with hook

    put a float next to or above the hook about 6inches

    I don't think its necessary. *EDIT* oh... carolina... ya a float would work.

    I don't use any floats. I tried it once and it didn't help with getting bites or catching, so I quit wasting my time.
