I have a lund 1860 mod v jon boat I am currently running a 97 2 stroke 40hp Merc, it's a little under powered with my duck blind on it, I found a deal on a 2004 Yamaha 4 stroke jet, my question is will I get any more power out of the 70 jet than I do my 40 propped motor. Thanks in advance.

Sad to say the only advantage would be more shollow places to run. All you will get out of that 70 would be about 33 to 35 h/p You loose at least half of your h/p and some times a little more then that.

you will lose about 33% of the hp with a jet so it would be more like 44 to 46 hp,and you won't be able to carry as much weight as with a prop, with your blind on the boat,i don't think you will be happy with that motor.
